In the summer of 2024, Disney Cruise Line will debut Lighthouse Point, a brand-new island destination on Eleuthera in The Bahamas.
A Bahamian art and culture pavilion, a gaming pavilion with a volleyball court and a gaga ball pit, watercraft and bicycle rentals, nature trails for hiking and biking, and a family water play area with two slides, water drums, fountains, and a designated area for toddlers are all included in the eco-friendly destination, which is being designed with input from local artists and advisors.
A family beach will be located on the eastern side of Lighthouse Point, close to dining options and entertainment venues, while an adults-only beach, with six private cabanas that can be reserved, will be located on the northern side.
Lighthouse Point’s pier is being built to eliminate or drastically reduce the need for dredging, and walkways will lessen the impact on the surrounding land. Over 90% of the electricity used at Lighthouse Point will be produced by solar energy.
According to Kevin Thomas, creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering, “Lighthouse Point is an area of amazing natural beauty, so our goal has always been to create designs that highlight its attributes in an organic way. We prioritise low-density, environmentally friendly development that maintains the ecosystem and lets the site’s biodiversity flourish.
