The longest-running Gay Ski Week in the Northeast, Winter Rendezvous at Stowe in Vermont, will commemorate its 40th anniversary in January.
The schedule for the Jan. 17–21 event includes a pool party, drag bingo, and snowshoeing. It is intended for non-skiers to participate.
According to Courtney DiFiore, a representative for Vail Resorts in the Northeast, “Winter Rendezvous is great for those who aren’t into skiing and riding because there’s no pressure to do so.” Since it is a community-wide event and not just for the mountains, the majority of the activation is in the town, which makes for quite the party.
One of the biggest ski weeks in the world with an LGBT theme, the Whistler Pride and Ski Festival, which runs from Jan. 21 to 28, just celebrated its 30th year.
The festival features ski races and guided ski trips, as well as cultural and entertainment activities throughout the hamlet. A ski procession down the Whistler slopes is the main attraction.
In Park City, Utah, Queerski made its debut in February of this year. It will grow in its second year.
This year’s event, tentatively scheduled to take place from February 21 to 24, will feature a kick-off family-style dinner, on-mountain basecamps with food and entertainment, and an on-mountain Pride Parade.
Donors to the inaugural Queerski were welcomed to a pre-opening First Tracks experience at Park City Mountain as a fundraiser for the Wasatch Back’s LGBTQ+ community.
